Opening to Presence-
A Yoga, Meditation & Self- Inquiry Retreat
w/ Surya Chandra Das & Patricia Brown
Villa Sumaya, Guatemala
This yoga and meditation retreat with Surya Chandra Das and Patricia Brown will be held at Villa Sumaya in the heart of Guatemala’s beautiful highland region.
Villa Sumaya is located on the shores of Lake Atitlan, described by novelist Aldous Huxley as the most beautiful lake in the world. With an uninterrupted vista punctuated only by the skyline of three perfect volcanoes, Villa Sumaya is the utmost for those in search of rest, reflection and ageless natural beauty. This unpretentious thatched roofed complex with spacious gardens, a restaurant, hot tub, sauna and outdoor pergolas are all hidden in the natural surrounding of this beautiful setting. Accessible by boat only, the retreat center offers a quiet and deeply restful environment with panoramic views of three volcanoes on the far side of the lake. Villa Sumaya's world-class yoga and meditation hall has a lake front location with full panoramic views, glass pyramid skylight and cascading waterfall.
Decorated with traditional Mayan weaving, each room has a private bathroom and a terrace with a view of the lake.
The retreat is suitable for anyone, regardless of age, physical ability or prior experience in yoga and meditation. Patricia and Surya bring 25 years of teaching experience to this unique 8 day retreat, inviting you to expand your experience of yoga as a vehicle for awakening; liberating body and mind from old patterns, cultivating the capacity for inner listening on and off the mat and opening to the spacious presence that you are. Periods of silence during the retreat create a supportive environment for awakening to inner silence.
There will be ample time to soak in the hot tubs, take a sauna, have a massage, hike in the adjacent hills, swim in the lake, explore one of more of the Mayan villages around the lake or simply relax in the beauty and quiet of Villa Sumaya.
