Sacred India – Yoga, Meditation, Breathwork and Ayurveda Restorative Retreat
w/Patricia & Surya
Maitreyi Vedic Village
Tamil Nadu, South India
There will be no retreat in India in 2023
Amidst Vedic chants, mango and coconut groves and the pure clear air of this majestic location in rural India, we will spend 11 days in purification and practice, following the traditional approach to both yoga and Ayurveda, the oldest known healing science of India. Held in the foothills of the Western Ghats, praised for their spiritual atmosphere, the retreat takes place at Maitreyi, an eco friendly spiritual retreat steeped in the wisdom of the Veda, the ancient scriptures of India.
Each day there will be three yoga and meditation sessions and one treatment. The Ayurvedic treatments are authentic, based on the traditional form and determined in the individual consultation you will receive from the skilled Ayurvedic physician at Maitreyi. Ayurveda is the sister science to the eight fold path of yoga. The purpose of practicing yoga and Ayurveda is to eliminate physical, mental, emotional and spiritual obstacles. By opening energy pathways, we align with nature’s intelligence, becoming familiar with the flow of our True Nature, the timelessness of Pure Consciousness.
Yoga sessions invite the cultivation of deep listening, learning to follow the body’s innate intelligence. Sessions will be guided with periods for self exploration and discovery.
Meditation sessions will focus on becoming familiar with the rest and ease of our essential nature in the midst of all activity. The meditation sessions are grounding as well as illuminating. There will be periodic guidance amidst these silent sessions.
Ayurvedic treatments, known as Pancha Karma are purifying and regenerative. The treatments include body therapies using medicated herbal oil or milk preparations. The cleansing, rejuvenation and attunement with nature’s intelligence, generates a return to health and wholeness and evokes a refined awareness, deepening spiritual understanding. The blend of practice, purification and the rural, serene beauty Maitreyi create a rare environment for supporting the spiritual sustenance of this process. To enhance the benefit of this retreat, silent periods will be observed.
Arrive in India at the Cochin Airport in the state of Kerala. Upon registration we will provide you with the names of a few hotels in Fort Cochin where you can reserve your room. A group pickup will be arranged for the travel to Maitreyi from a designated central place in Fort Cochin.

The last day at Maitreyi, we will drive one hour into the beautiful hills of the Western Ghats and to the Lord Venkateshwara Hindu Temple, traveling through Valparai, a hill town where 200 year old tea plantations blanket the sloping valleys with verdant green luster.
